A whale watching programme has been organized by the Ocean University of Sri Lanka for both local and foreign visitors. Under the guidance of Mr. Dullas Alahapperuma, Minister of Youth Affairs, The Ocean University of Sri Lanka (NIFNE) organized this whale watching programme which was inaugurated at the Port of Galle on 17th of December 2012.
The tours organized by the Ocean University in collaboration with Richard Travels and Tours, a Private Sector Company specializing in Tourism are available on request. The Ocean University has allocated seven boats with seating capacity up to twenty-five each for this programme.
